Todd Starnes Show – Jan 17

THE FIRST HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW

12:05pm- Flakey! Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., this morning delivered a searing condemnation of President Donald Trump, specifically the way he employs the term “fake news” to dismiss objective reality. “2017 was a year which saw the truth – objective, empirical, evidence-based truth – more battered and abused than any other in the history of our country, at the hands of the most powerful figure in our government,” Flake said in a speech on the Senate Floor. “The impulses underlying the dissemination of such untruths are not benign. They have the effect of eroding trust in our vital institutions and conditioning the public to no longer trust them. The destructive effect of this kind of behavior on our democracy cannot be overstated. Flake went on to illustrate how Trump had borrowed a phrase from the infamous Russian leader Josef Stalin, when he called the press “the enemy of the people.” The phrase was so dangerous, Flake explained, that Stalin’s successor prohibited people from using it.

12:20pm- Guest: Dr. Kelli Ward, Arizona US Senate Candidate

12:30pm- Let’s Get Physical! White House physician Ronny Jackson was slammed with an onslaught of questions regarding President Trump’s health in a bizarre press briefing on Tuesday that raised eyebrows as the press fished for maladies. Jackson said Trump was in “excellent health” after conducting the  president’s physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, but the positive results weren’t enough for the reporters in attendance. Jackson answered questions for more than 50 minutes, running the gamut from the odd to the conspiratorial. White House correspondents asked about everything from whether Trump wears dentures to how to gauge his mental health.  Question: Why didn’t the press grill Obama like this after his physicals? 888-788-9910

Plus:

Out!  President Trump kicked CNN star Jim Acosta out of the Oval Office Tuesday after the network’s senior White House correspondent badgered him with racially charged questions. Acosta has made a habit of grandstanding and interrupting when Trump and his surrogates are available to the media. Tuesday was no exception, as Acosta yelled, “Mr. President,” three times before finally getting Trump’s attention. “Did you say that you want more people to come in from Norway? Did you say that you wanted more people from Norway? Is that true Mr. President?” Acosta frantically shouted. “I want them to come in from everywhere… everywhere. Thank you very much everybody,” Trump responded as Acosta continued to bark questions. “Just Caucasian or white countries, sir? Or do you want people to come in from other parts of the world… people of color,” Acosta shouted. Trump then pointed directly at Acosta and simply said, “Out!”

12:50pm- Shakespeare in The Park?  Tuesday at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Department of Homeland Security oversight, referring to President Donald Trump’s alleged “shithole” comments, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) lectured Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen over her testimony.

THE SECOND HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW

1:05pm- Guest: James O’Keefe is an award-winning journalist and writer. He is the founder and President of Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action. His latest book is out titled: AMERICAN PRAVDA, My Fight for Truth in the Era of Fake News

1:30pm- One Year Later! One year after the Texas Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of First Liberty clients, the Kountze Cheerleaders, the Kountze Independent School District filed another petition to the high court of Texas. Guest Jeremy Dys, Deputy General Counsel for First Liberty

1:50pm- Kicker Topic: New California? Two men have launched a campaign to divide rural California from the coastal cities, motivated by what they referred to as a “tyrannical form of government,” that doesn’t follow the state or federal constitution, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Unlike the failed 2016 campaign to split California into 6 states, the “New California” movement, founded by Robert Paul Preston and Tom Reed, seeks to consolidate rural California into a distinct economy separate from the coast.

THE THIRD HOUR OF THE TODD STARNES SHOW

2:05pm – Shutdown? House Republicans considered on Tuesday a stopgap bill to fund the U.S. government through Feb. 16 to avert a shutdown, but the measure would not include Democrats’ demands for protections for young people brought to the United States illegally as children. Partisan finger-pointing over immigration policy on Tuesday left Congress and the White House stumbling closer to a possible federal government shutdown by the end of the week. Republicans who control Congress are expected to try to push another stopgap funding bill and get it to President Donald Trump’s desk before a midnight Friday deadline when existing money for federal agencies expires. The bill would not include protections for the young people described as “Dreamers,” Republican Representative Mike Simpson told reporters after his party’s closed-door meeting.

2:30pm- Guest: Mickey Lidell (Producer) is the founder and CEO of LD Entertainment, a film development and production company which has recently expanded into television, theater and digital platforms. His new movie is called “ Forever My girl” which is out in theatres NOW.
