Former Arkansas Gov. and GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee – long an advocate for music and the arts – was forced to resign from the Country Music Association Foundation Board Thursday, less than a day after being appointed, because of backlash against his conservative views.  In his resignation letter to the board, Huckabee said: “I hope that the music and entertainment industry will become more tolerant and inclusive and recognize that a true love for kids having access to the arts is more important than a dislike for someone or a group of people because of who they are or what they believe.”

1:05 – A Century of Honor Destroyed? The Peace Cross, a cross-shaped monument on public land that has towered over a busy Maryland intersection for nearly 100 years, is being considered for removal or destruction thanks to a lawsuit brought by the American Humanist Association, who say the cross the gives the impression that only Christians are being honored. First Liberty, a religious-freedom organization representing the American Legion, stated that this lawsuit could lead to other memorials being taken down, including those at Arlington National Cemetery. Guest – Hiram Sasser, General Counsel for First Liberty Institute 

1:35 – Segregation at Comic Con: No Straight, White Males Allowed at Parties This year’s Emerald City Comic Con released its schedule of events on its app recently. Anyone who is male, white and identifies as heterosexual found himself excluded from industry mixers and professional mixers.

12:20 – Mike Huckabee resigns from the CMA Foundation Board 

12:35 – Done With Dicks! After Dick’s Sporting Good announced it would no longer sell guns to shoppers under the age of 21, Griffin Mccullar posted a photo of a printed resignation letter on his Facebook page. McCullar said in the letter that “I find them morally and constitutionally wrong. I refuse to be a part of a corporation with these liberal policies.” Is he being discriminated against?
