The Tigers’ athletic department put out a statement on Friday stating that the altercation and punch was “extremely unfortunate and certainly not consistent with, or representative of, our expectations for our programs and student-athletes.”

They also mentioned in the statement that local authorities will be handling the investigation since the incident happened after the game ended and are fully cooperative with the ongoing process.

As a result, Memphis will not be commenting further on the situation until it is resolved.
