Shaq Dunks on Mandates: ‘You Shouldn’t Be Forced…’
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal came out against forcing employees to take the COVID shot.
The Basketball Hall of Famer made the comments on his podcast that was released Thursday.
“Look, I encourage everybody to be safe and take care of your family. I do. But there’s still some people that don’t wanna take it, and you shouldn’t have to be forced to take something you don’t want,” he said on “The Big Podcast.”
His co-host Nischelle Turner, who is also a correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight,” pushed back on O’Neal’s notion.
“I don’t think people are being forced to take…Well, there are some,” Turner said. “There are, I mean, listen we have a mandate at CBS.”
O’Neal repeated again that it’s “forced” and nothing else.
The former Los Angeles Laker could’ve pivoted on his stance because he was critical of Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving for refusing to get the jab last year, saying “sometimes you have to be selfless.”
At the time he said he got the vaccine to protect his family.
