BernieCare: Take a Seat, We'll Be With You in a Year

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is making the rounds to promote his Medicare-for-ALL bill, including non-citizens, and his latest poster child is a Canadian doctor.

He interviewed Dr. Danielle Martin on his podcast, “The Bernie Sanders Show.”

Sanders asked Dr. Martin to get specific on the problems of the Canadian system, as many Americans fear single-payer healthcare and the horror stories from across the pond.

Remember what former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wrote on her Facebook page in 2009 in opposition to ObamaCare:.

[G]overnment health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

But instead of proving Palin wrong, Dr. Martin admits you might have to wait a year for some procedures, but she insists wait times aren’t long for “urgent or emergent issues” like cancer or a heart attack. “We don’t wait any longer than anyone else in the world for those things,” she said.

You might have to wait several months for migraines, she says…adding insult to injury…and you better not visit Canada if you need a hip or knee replacement surgery because you could be waiting for an entire year.

She blames the problem on their “poor job” with “the delivery systems of care” not because they have government-run healthcare.

I sure hope Dr. Martin isn’t suffering from migraines or a hip replacement because her thinking seems a little off balance.
