Breaking: American Airlines Jetliner Burning at Denver Airport

DEVELOPING STORY: An American Airlines jetliner caught fire at Denver International Airport. Video, which you can watch below, shows flames and billowing black smoke.

American Airlines Flight 1006, carrying 172 passengers and six crew members, touched down in Denver around 5:15 p.m. and the plane’s engine caught fire as it was taxiing on the tarmac, the FAA and airline said.

The Federal Aviation Administration told CBS News in a statement that the flight had departed from Colorado Springs Airport and was bound for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport when the “crew reported engine vibrations.”

Passengers were seen evacuating the aircraft via emergency slides. Many others were seen standing on the wings of the plane.

“Passengers were evacuated and the slides were deployed,” the airport said.

There were no reported injuries. This post will be updated throughout the evening. Click here to get breaking news alerts from ToddStarnes.com.
