DEVELOPING STORY: Republicans nearly came to blows in a closed door meeting today just hours after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced that he would not seek a third vote to be the next House Speaker.
The Ohio congressman had garnered 90 percent of the vote, but 22 RINOs pitched a hissy fit and refused to back his race.
Now, Establishment Republicans are calling for Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) to remain as Speaker Pro Tem at least through January.
“I am against speaker-light, I am against Bud Light, I believe it is a constitutional desecration not to elect a Speaker of the House,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) blasted the Republicans in Name Only).
“The reason why we’re broken is because Republicans worked with Democrats,” she told reporters.
Reporters say they are getting dispatches from inside the closed-door GOP conference meeting and it’s a free-for-all. There are reports of screaming and some members departing to go to a chapel to pray.
It’s a complete mess, folks.
