Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kelli Ward blasted Senator Jeff Flake and establishment Republicans during a segment of the Todd Starnes Show Wednesday, a day after Flake announced he would not seek reelection.
“It’s good that he’s stepped aside because there isn’t a place in the party for people who don’t support Republican principles and support the Republican platform,” Ward said. Adding that he realized that he is “not a winner.”

“The big winners are the voters in Arizona and the American people” Ward said. “The majority support the president and the America first agenda and they know that I’m a strong conservative leader who will go to Washington D.C. and present an optimistic path forward.”
“This year’s platform is one of the most conservative, it is great both fiscally and socially. and it is something our elected representatives who are supposed to be representing us and listening to us should at least read and hopefully adhere to.”
Ward said Flake’s record was “very similar” to likely Arizona Senate Democrat nominee Kyrsten Sinema. Ward cited Flake’s support for the Trans Pacific Partnership, open borders, amnesty, as well as his vote to confirm Loretta Lynch as Attorney General in 2015 and his push to confirm Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court as proof that he is not who he said he was.
Ward told the Todd Starnes Show that the same Republican elected officials who are attacking the president, are also attacking her “along with [Mitch] McConnell and his super PAC.”
Ward said that those elected officials are throwing out the window the America first agenda because “they don’t like how [the president] talks.” Which she called “ridiculous.”
Flake’s speech yesterday echoed “his condescending arrogant tone that he used in his book, in op-eds and has used since Trump came on the scene,” Ward said. “He’s attacking all of us, everyone who worked really hard to put Donald Trump into the White House and to disrupt the status quo in Washington that wasn’t working.”
Ward also attacked establishment efforts to defeat her in the primary saying that they “need to get out of the way and attack the Democrats.” The establishment also needs to support her and other America first candidates, she said, noting that Steve Bannon and Laura Ingraham had come down to Arizona and endorsed her last week.
