The Looters Seem to Prefer Stealing Sneakers Instead of Books

A small mob of thugs pillaged and plundered several stores in Fort Lauderdale during Hurricane Irma.

A television crew from WPLG captured video of the looters — which police later used to capture the criminals.

“Going to prison over a pair of sneakers is a fairly bad life choice,” Fort Lauderdale police chief Rick Maglione told the television station. “Stay home and look after your loved once and be thankful they are all safe.”

Police in Lake Wales arrested two teenagers for breaking into the home of a resident who had evacuated.

“We want everyone to be safe during the hurricane. And we will not tolerate thieves taking advantage of those evacuating their homes. Looters need to be prepared to go to jail if they try to take advantage of people during a state of emergency,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press release.

Just an observation — but the looters always seem to target the sneaker stores — never the book stores.
