12:05 PM Recovering! Floridians are returning from their Irma-induced exodus on Tuesday to find wrecked homes, food shortages and widespread power outages — and now face a long and daunting road to recovery. Around 15 million people remain without electricity across the state, according to Chris Krebs, Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection at the Department of Homeland Security. After Hurricane Irma ravaged the string of islands known as the Florida Keys, officials are now warning tourists and residents to stay away until further notice, noting: “The Keys are not open for business.” Houses and mobile homes were uprooted and other infrastructure was destroyed, while an innumerable amount of boats in the Keys also suffered damage from Irma’s powerful winds.
12:10 PM Rev Franklin Graham, President & CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, Executive Producer of “Facing Darkness” which will be in theaters Thursday night:
“I’m grateful to God that there was not more loss of life — the property, the buildings, these things can be rebuilt. Even though we’re very sorry to those that did lose their life, I’m just glad there wasn’t more.”
“We’re there and we’re going to be there until the need is gone,” Graham said. “We’ll need volunteers in Florida…teams of volunteers, church groups willing to work a day, a week…”
“The Bible tells that in the end times there will be storms…and they will grow in intensity…so you just wonder when you look at how far our country has slipped morally and you see our country has turned its back on God…we just wonder is the world falling apart…is what God wrote in His word — is it all coming true? Is the Lord returning today? I’m not a prophet, we don’t know the day or the hour, but we’re always watching and waiting.”
12:20 PM Civil War? Ousted White House strategist Stephen Bannon said he would have advised President Trump to abolish all protections for young undocumented immigrants to avoid the “civil war” he predicts will follow in the GOP. “I’m worried about losing the House now because of this, because of DACA,” Bannon told CBS’ “60 Minutes” in an interview that aired Sunday night.” “And my fear is that with this six months down range, if this goes all the way down to its logical conclusion, in February and March, it will be a civil war inside the Republican Party. “And to me, doing that in the springboard of primary season for 2018 is extremely unwise.” Plus: Bannon is planning to escalate his war with the GOP establishment, by promoting primary challengers who will run against GOP incumbents on a platform that is fully faithful to Trumpism, multiple news organizations are reporting.
12:35 PM Dr. Kelli Ward, primary challenger to Arizona Senator Jeff Flake:
“Steve Bannon is exactly right…but people like Senator Flake have brought this on for our country…we have to be at…results not rhetoric. I agree with Steve Bannon wholeheartedly, and I look forward to draining the swamp in 2018 and taking on Jeff Flake.”
12:50 PM A British conductor has been fired from his job directing a prestigious American music festival after being branded racist over a joke, his friend says.

1:05 PM Berkley Braces! UC Berkeley is bracing for yet another showdown over a controversial conservative speaker scheduled to visit the famously liberal university this week, marking the first big test for new Chancellor Carol Christ’s approach to handling the thorny issue of free speech on campus. With conservative commentator Ben Shapiro slated to speak Thursday at 7 p.m. to a sold-out crowd at Zellerbach Hall, at least one group, Refuse Fascism, is planning to protest his appearance, calling for a rally in Lower Sproul Plaza beginning at 6 p.m.
1:20 PM Ben Shapiro, Editor In Charge of The DailyWire.com & NY Times Best Seller:
“If you feel like you need counseling for one of my speeches, you probably do need psychiatric help,” Shapiro said of his upcoming speech at UC Berkeley offering counseling services for his presence on campus. “Antifa is trying to label me a white supremacist — that’s utterly mad…whatever they don’t like, they label a Nazi.”
Once you start pandering to people who are legitimately violent, you’re saying the rioters run the show, Shapiro said.
He’s going there to give a speech and they treat it like an incoming meteor. Sad that we have to “brace” for words these days. https://t.co/fFXOCc0f1S

1:30 PM I Saw The Sign? A sign on the door of a Kewaskum Dairy Queen, calling the restaurant ‘politically incorrect’ is generating business and conversation. The sign reads: “This restaurant is politically incorrect.” It warns potential customers that staff may say things like “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Easter,” and will also offer free sundaes to veterans on Veterans Day. It also says “In God We Trust.” “I felt the sign was appropriate to hang in terms of being transparent about the views of the owner and staff supporting God and country,” said owner Kevin Scheunemann. “It just seems that those kinds of values and principles are becoming controversial in society,” he said. The sign was posted close to four years ago, after a customer was upset when he heard Christian music inside the restaurant. Scheunemann decided to post the warning, and said he hasn’t had many problems since then. One time, a customer was upset at the offer of free ice cream for veterans, but Scheunemann said he is open to talking with anyone who may have concerns about the sign. He says he’ll even make arrangements for a customer to come in without witnessing any expression of God or country. Other business owners in town say they support Scheunemann’s right to run his business the way he sees fit.
2:05 PM Excessive? Back in March, The Transportation Security Administration has quietly adopted new “enhanced” pat-down searches for screening passengers at U.S. airports, a response to weaknesses in airport security. The TSA on Thursday began using a “universal pat-down” procedure that includes “enhanced security measures” to replace several pat-down tactics used in the past by TSA screeners that are presumably less invasive. The TSA is standardizing its physical search procedure rather than allow screeners to choose among types of searches to reduce the chance of poor decisions at crucial security checkpoints. Weekly Standard writer John McCormack recently wrote about his experience and it wasn’t good.
