You can expect high drama Thursday on Capitol Hill – as former FBI director James Comey prepares to testify.
Democrats and the Mainstream Media are infected with Nixonian levels of hysteria – hoping and praying that Comey’s testimony could lead to the president’s downfall.
I would not be surprised if MSNBC and CNN had paramedics standing by to administer first aid to hyperventilating anchors.
According to Mr. Comey’s prepared remarks – he will testify that President Trump sought and expected his loyalty.
“The President said, ‘I need loyalty, I expect loyalty,'” Comey will testify. “I didn’t move, speak, or change my facial expression in any way during the awkward silence that followed. We simply looked at each other in silence. The conversation then moved on, but he returned to the subject near the end of our dinner.”
Comey is also expected to say the president urged him to lift the cloud of the Russian investigation. He will also reference salacious accusations made involving women of ill repute.
But in spite of all the references to Russia and loyalty pledges and prostitutes – there is no smoking gun.
And there’s no evidence – thus far – that the president did anything illegal.
As a matter of fact, Comey is expected to testify that he told the president three times that he was not the focus of an FBI investigation.
So it’s safe to say what’s about to happen in Washington is more about smearing the White House and not so much about getting the truth.
In other words — it’s just another day inside the beltway.
