Over the past several weeks we have seen our fellow countrymen willingly surrender their civil liberties for the sake of public safety. Churches have shuttered their worship centers. Small businesses have been ordered to close. Curfews have been imposed.
And in some cities, lawmakers have implemented emergency declarations that give them the power to curtail gun sales and gun ownership.

And that brings me to a question NBC’s Chuck Todd asked on his television program today.
“Are we prepared to temporarily sacrifice enough of the freedoms we as Americans take for granted to knock this menace down to at least a Category 3,” he asked.
Well, America? Are we?
