A nationally-known moving van company is facing the wrath of conservatives.
Federal agents used a Penske rental truck to conduct an immigration raid at a Home Depot in the West Lake Section of Los Angeles. A Fox News reporter was embedded with the agents and shared video of agents pouring out of the back of a large yellow rental truck.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said in a post on X that the federal government is proceeding with immigration raids.
“For those who thought immigration enforcement had stopped in Southern California, think again. The enforcement of federal law is not negotiable, and there are no sanctuaries from the reach of the federal government,” Essayli said.
Department of Homeland Security officials released a short statement saying the operation led to “the arrest of 16 illegal aliens from Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua,” and did not answer questions. They told a Fox News reporter that “MS-13 has a chokehold on this area.”
Mayor Karen Bass condemned the Department of Homeland Security. She said the raids are un-American and terrorizing.
“For months federal agents have been masking themselves and now they’re using rental trucks to conduct their seemingly discriminatory raids – these tactics are dangerous. The Federal court of appeals made clear that it is unconstitutional in this country to racially profile people and snatch them from worksites. The City is gathering information about these reported raids and considering all legal options. Tactics like this are un-American and we will never accept these terrorizing ploys as a new normal.”
Penske also condemned the raid and said they strictly prohibit transporting people in the cargo areas of their trucks.
“Penske Truck Rental is aware of recent reports and videos regarding a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operation in Los Angeles.
Penske strictly prohibits the transportation of people in the cargo area of its vehicles under any circumstances. The company was not made aware that its trucks would be used in today’s operation and did not authorize this. Penske will reach out ot DHS and reinforce its policy to avoid improper use of its vehicles in the future.”
What’s ironic is that Penske did not issue a similar statement several years ago when border agents found nearly 60 illegals crammed inside a Penske rental truck.
Many now wondering if Penske is okay with their vehicles being used for human trafficking?
