Hello Americans, I’m Todd Starnes. Stand by for news and commentary next.
Dr. Jeffrey Horak is a surgeon in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The other day he stood before the school board and spoke out against mask mandates. He told the board that parents are the ones who should be responsible for making health decision for their kids.
Two weeks later Dr. Horak was fired from Lake Region Medical Group.
No reason was given – just a thank you for 16 years of service to patients.
“We live in America where freedoms are held close,” Horak told the Fergus Falls Journal. “I am a man who believes individuals have the right to do their research and decide what is best for them and their children when it comes to their health. I don’t believe governments or institutions should dictate that. It’s a position I’ve always have taken. And when the science doesn’t make sense to me it’s hard for me to go along.”
A group of nurses from the Lake Region Healthcare provided a statement to Valley News Live:
“We would be willing to speak up if we were not fearful that our job would be in jeopardy for expressing our First Amendment Rights.”
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital to protest his dismissal. And to thank the good doctor for taking a stand.
“We’re very proud of him. For him to stand up and lose his job tells you something about the man,” said Rick Bolinske, a family friend of Dr. Horak. “We’re actually family friends. He’s an incredible man, there’s no way he should lose his job for what he has said. We’ve lost our freedoms.”
Dr. Horak is a patriot and no doubt he will be just fine. He’s an example to the rest of the nation – that sometimes standing up for freedom comes with a price.
