But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. (Psalm 13:5 NLT)
As I write this, I’m one of the many Texans Hurricane Harvey has displaced. I’ve seen rains, winds and floods of epic proportions. For every sad, negative situation stemming from this disaster, I’ve seen double the amounts of kindness. We are grateful for good people and a good good God!
One of the words standing out to me during this trial is the word, rescue. I’ve seen black hawk helicopters assisting with rescues and evacuating nursing home residents to other facilities. I’ve seen volunteers rescue pets and livestock. I’ve even witnessed rescuers needing rescued when they took on too much water with their vehicles and boats.
Many of us are fixers, but we all need God to be our rescuer. He rescues the rescuers. Because of this, like the psalmist declares above, I trust in His unfailing love. He hasn’t let me down yet, and He’s not going to! I can even find enough of the joy He’s planted in my heart to rejoice over the many blessings while I wait for my electricity and running water to return. Why? Because He has rescued me through the gift of His Son, Jesus.
Will you cry out to your Rescuer today and allow Him to help you through whatever need you are currently facing?
Oh, Sweet Rescuer we praise You for Your love that never fails or fades. Help us rejoice even in the midst of disaster.
