The body of a 43-year-old black man was found after emergency crews were dispatched to former President Barack Obama’s $12 million Martha’s Vineyard estate, the Daily Mail reports.
The man reportedly went missing Sunday night while he was out paddleboarding on Edgartown Great Pond in Massachusetts with another paddleboarder, prompting a multi-agency response including the U.S. Coast Guard, state police, and local emergency personnel.
Witnesses told police officers he was an African-American male last seen wearing all black without a life jacket and went underwater, briefly reappeared as he struggled to stay afloat before submerging again before 8 p.m.
First responders were dispatched to 79 Turkeyland Cove Road, Obama’s estate, MV Times reports. It is unclear if the 61-year-old former president is currently staying there.
The deceased man’s paddle board an hat were recovered Sunday. His body was found in 8-ft. deep waters 100 feet away from the shore around 10 a.m. Monday.
The local news reports an investigation into the death is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands and Edgartown Police.
