Elementary School Stands By Hiring Drag Queen Arrested on Child Porn Possession

An Oklahoma school district is standing by its decision to hire a drag queen who was arrested on child porn charges as an elementary school principal, according to an explosive report.

Dr. Shane Brent Murnan, the 52-year-old head principal at John Glenn Elementary School in Oklahoma City, “is a drag queen who performs for children and reads books about gender to kids while dressed in drag,” according to Libs of TikTok.

At the time of the hiring in June the district’s statement read, “Recently, the district has been made aware of previous charges that were dismissed more than 20 years ago.” It didn’t mention that the charges were for possession of child pornography.

“How can you be a principal of an elementary school and have prior child pornography charges?” independent journalist Tayler Hansen asked. “Insane.”

Brayden Savage, superintendent of the Western Heights Public Schools, defended the decision to hire Murnan.

“The District followed its usual hiring practices” and “conducted the required felony criminal background check upon his hiring,” Savage said in a lengthy statement.

“Recently, information began circulating about Dr. Murnan and the charges he faced more than 20 years ago for an alleged crime involving child pornography,” Savage said. “According to news reports at the time, those charges were dismissed by the court, and the record of the charges has been expunged.”

The superintendent added, “Please know we are aware of the situation and handling this matter with the utmost attention and care. The greatest priority of Western Heights Public Schools is providing a safe learning environment for our students.”

State Superintendent Ryan Walters released a statement Thursday saying they were investigating the situation.

“Anything that might expose kids to inappropriate sexual content at school is cause for serious concern to parents and is absolutely contrary to Oklahoma values. I will not allow rogue educators to endanger our kids. OSDE (Oklahoma State Department of Education) is looking into all accusations and will take any necessary actions to protect children,” Walters said.
