Pemmaraju, who was born in India and grew up in San Antonio, Texas, was part of the original Fox News team when the network launched in 1996.

She has hosted several different FNC shows and interviewed high-profile guests such as the Dalai Lama, Carly Simon, former President Trump, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Her most recent show was “America’s News Headquarters w/Uma Pemmaraju.”

“Uma was one of the kindest people at Fox News,” said former colleague Todd Starnes. “She was also an excellent broadcaster and journalist. She will be missed.”

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of FOX News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched,” Scott said. “Uma was an incredibly talented journalist as well as a warm and lovely person, best known for her kindness to everyone she worked with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family.”

Pemmaraju had an award-winning career, including the Texas AP Award for reporting, The Woman of Achievement Award from the Big Sisters Organization of America and the Matrix Award from Women in Communications.

She got her start in Texas at KENS-TV and the San Antonio Express-News newspaper as a producer and reporter while she attended Trinity University.
