‘War Zone!’ Mass Shooting at NJ Chick-fil-A

DEVELOPING STORY: There’s been a mass shooting Saturday night at a Chick-fil-A in Union, New Jersey. At least six people have been shot and one person is reportedly dead. Multiple people were transported to the hospital. The shooting was reported around 8:45 p.m. This story will be updated throughout the evening. A man who said his girlfriend works at the restaurant told CBS News New York she said a group of men came into the store and went directly behind the counter, where they fired multiple shots.

A family member of another employee said there was some sort of altercation and that employees were injured in the violence.

WABC reports that one of the workers said multiple masked suspects entered the eatery and that several of his co-workers were injured in the shooting.

A Lyft driver named Martin told WABC he was finishing a trip nearby and heard more than seven shots.

“I finished my trip over there, in the return zone. I heard the shots. When I finished the trip I go to Chick-fil-A to buy two burgers — I see the police, I heard the shots very close,” he says.

The Union County Prosecutor says it is an ongoing investigation. They have not released any information about what happened.
