House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has called for “privacy” as NBC News reports bizarre new details about the attack on her husband last week.
Paul Pelosi is back in his home Friday at the scene of the crime where David Depape, an illegal immigrant from Canada, allegedly struck him with a hammer.

More questions remain in the incident that has been politicized against “MAGA Republicans” by President Biden and other Democrats days ahead of the midterms.
Police officers responding to the 911 call were “unaware” it was the Pelosi residence, according to sources familiar with the case.
“After a ‘knock and announce,’ the door was opened by Mr. Pelosi. The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or try to leave his home, but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant and away from police,” NBC San Francisco-based correspondent Miguel Almaguer said.

At that point, it was unclear if he was already injured or “what his mental state was,” according to the report.
When law enforcement asked the two what was going on, the defendant smiled and said, “everything’s good,” according to court documents.

Then a “struggle ensued” and police witnessed Depape “strike Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer.”
San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said, “What we do know is he brutally attacked Mr. Pelosi and attempted to kill him.”

According to prosecutors, Pelosi did not know Depape, but many questions still remain.
“Why Pelosi didn’t try to flee or tell responding officers he was in distress is unclear,” Almaguer added. “We still don’t know exactly what unfolded between Mr. Pelosi and the suspect for the 30 minutes they were alone inside that house before police arrived. Officials who were investigating this matter would not go into further details about these new details.”
