DEVELOPING STORY: A pipe bomb with an unknown powder inside was recovered either on or near railroad tracks in Philadelphia’s Holmesburg section Sunday, police tell CBS News.
The incident happened at the intersection of Blakiston Lane and Frankford Avenue just before 2 p.m. The device was reportedly found behind St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
Fox 29 reports the pipe was made from PVC pipe and was capped at both ends. It was found by a passerby.
The bomb squad successfully removed the device.
