Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said today that he is “prepared” for a conflict with federal authorities over the border.
“This is a fight for the future of America,” he said.
Abbott told Tucker Carlson that he expects the standoff between the state and the Biden administration will be remedied through peaceful means, but they are ready should the unthinkable happen.
“If the administration declares that it plans to federalize the National Guard of the State of Texas, your National Guard, what will be your response,” Carlson asked.
“I’ll be shocked,” the governor replied. “That would be a boneheaded move on his part, a total disaster. But for one, as you might imagine, we are prepared in the event that that unlikely event does occur to make sure that we will be able to continue exactly what we’ve been doing over the past month.”
He said National Guard troops will continue to erect border fencing regardless of what the administration does.
“And that is building these barriers, whether it be the concertina wire or other anti-climb border barriers, whatever we’ve been building, the Biden administration is now trying to attack us because of it. “We will continue to do exactly what we’re doing to expand our denial of illegal entry into the state of Texas.”
In response to rumors that the Biden administration might try to federalize the Texas National Guard, the governor said they have a plan.
“We do have other armed state employees on the border as we speak,” he said. “As well as National Guard from other states and you can be assured there will be other more National Guard from other states.”
At least 15 states – all governed by Republicans have announced they will support Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in his fight against the federal government.
“The federal government’s failure to secure our nation’s southern border is jeopardizing the safety of all Americans. Tennessee has always stood with Texas, and we always will,” said Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.
Gov. Abbott officially declared that the Lone Star State has been invaded. He accused the White House of violating Article IV, Section IV of the U.S. Constitution.
He said states have a constitutional right to defend themselves against invasion.
“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting states, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Abbott said. “President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them.”
“James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats.”
In response, some Democrats are calling on President Biden to federalize the Texas National Guard. That could lead to the unthinkable.
“If Abbott is defying yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, [Biden] needs to establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard now,” wrote Rep. Joaquin Castro, (D-TX) in reference to a narrow Supreme Court decision allowing federal authorities to cut razor wire along the border.
Every state is a border state because of the open border policies of the Biden Administration. We have not just been invaded; we’ve also been occupied.
House Speaker Mike Johnson also affirmed his support of the Lone Star State.
“I stand with Governor Abbott. The House will do everything in its power to back him up,” he said. “The next step: holding Secretary Mayorkas accountable.”

Mary Miller (R-IL) wrote on X. “Biden took an oath to defend our borders that he is violating. He should be IMPEACHED! No amnesty surrender!”

A peaceful resolution is preferred – but the invasion must be stopped.
And President Biden should understand that We the People are resolved. And the border will be secured – one way or another.
