‘We’ve Lost Both Engines! Emergency!’ Plane Crashes onto I-75 in Florida

DEVELOPING STORY: A business jet crashed Friday afternoon onto Interstate 75 near Naples, Florida. An unknown number of passenger cars were also involved in the crash. Watch video of the crash below.

The plane is a Bombardier Challenger 604 capable of carrying 10-12 passengers. Video and photos take from the scene show the jet mostly intact but burning on the interstate.

“Lost both engines, emergency,” the pilot told the tower. “Making an emergency landing.”

The tower gave the Challenger Hop-A-Get clearance to land, but the plane was unable to land safely.

“We’re clear to land, but we’re not going to make the runway,” he replied. “We’ve lost both engines.”

Television station WINK reports at least five people were on board the plane. Two people were reportedly killed.

The FAA says Interstate 75 will be shut down for at least 24 hours.
