DEVELOPING STORY: There’s purportedly been an explosion reported in the sky above Billings, Montana. The unconfirmed incident has been reported by Fox News Channel as well as local reporters. Video, which you can see below, purportedly shows what has been described as an explosion in the sky after a jet passes by.
There’s clearly something falling from the sky – but it’s unclear whether or not it’s the Chinese spy balloon. Another video shows a number of military helicopters in the air.
“I was notified of it just minutes before we came on air,” Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte said during an interview on Fox News Channel. The governor was not able to confirm the authenticity of the video, but told Tucker Carlson he’s talking to the National Guard to find out if they have additional info.
Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) posted a message on his Twitter account:
I am genuinely concerned with the lack of transparency about the original Chinese Spy balloon and potential unexplained explosion above Billings. I have reached out to the Commanding Officer at Malmstrom Air Force base for details.
