A young man was detained outside an “all ages” drag queen event in Watertown, Wisconsin for reading the Bible on a loudspeaker, according to shocking footage.
The incident happened Saturday at the “Pride in the Park “event, where there was a drag queen story time, a dance party for kids, drag shows, and more.
“Young man arrested for sharing the Bible on a public sidewalk,” @TONYxTWO posted on X. “Blatant violation of the 1st amendment of The Constitution. Every one of those cops should be fired and sued.”
The man, identified as Marcus, was reading, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” when a police officer approached him and put a hand on his shoulder and another officer grabbed his mic and turned off the speaker.
Tom Ascol, the president of The Institute of Public Theology (IOPT), posted on X, “I don’t know the details of this, yet, but ask you to pray for this young man, Marcus, who was arrested. He is one of our students at @IOPT_FL. Ask the Lord to protect him, comfort his family, & cause justice to prevail.”
Another video showed the young man being arrested alongside two individuals that were inside the event reading the Bible on a speaker.
There was a large police presence at the event after “a group of neo-Nazis called ‘The Blood Tribe'” appeared for a short time, WKOW reports.
“[It was] surreal to see it,” Julie Janowak, one of the event’s organizers, told the outlet. “They marched in waving swastika flags completely covered over… they had sunglasses on, you couldn’t see their face. I think they had gloves on, long sleeves, long pants.”
This is a developing story.
