It’s been a tradition at Victory West High School in Texas to provide graduating seniors with a Bible during commencement.
The Bibles are set up on a table and graduates are encouraged to pick up a copy as they return to their seats.
But a concerned employee tattled on the district. The unidentified heathen reached out to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a group of Jesus-haters based in Wisconsin.

They argued that the distribution of Bibles is unconstitutional. And they accused the district of coercion.
“It is inappropriate and unconstitutional for a public school district to offer religious representatives unique access to students in order to distribute religious literature in the hopes of indoctrinating them, FFRF emphasizes,” FFRF said. “Public school students have a constitutional right to be free from religious indoctrination in their public schools. It is well settled that public schools may not show favoritism toward, or coerce belief or participation in, religion.”
What a load of Grade-A hooey.
If the school had threatened the kids – “either take the bible or no diploma for you” – now, that would be coercion. This was not that.
A thoughtful gesture – sending teenagers out into the world armed with a diploma and God’s Word.
I’d wager a Chick-fil-A sandwich that the school staffer who complained is a pronoun-confused, Gen-Zer with magenta hair.
