There is growing outrage within evangelical Christian circles over Focus on the Family’s looming decision to obey OSHA’s China Virus mandates should the Supreme Court fail to overturn the Biden Administration’s unconstitutional regulations.
It hasn’t happened, yet — but many are gravely concerned.
Television station KRDO obtained an email from an employee purportedly sent to Focus workers by Jim Daly, the president of the Christian ministry.
If they fail to comply the ministry could face tens of thousands of dollars in fines, the television station reported. That news infuriated staffers and donors.
Dr. James Dobson would never have taken a knee to the federal government. #focusonthefamily— toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) January 8, 2022
“Many employees have begun organizing against Focus’ desire to comply with the mandates, and donors are already threatening to pull funding,” the email from the employee read.
The Epoch Times reported that staffers who do not confirm they’ve been vaccinated by Jan. 10 must wear a mask at work. They must start getting tested on Feb. 9, he added.
“I understand why Focus on the Family had put out the information that they sent out. The thing that I’m having trouble understanding is why they’re not vocally and publicly fighting against the mandates, and saying that the government does not own our bodies, and that as a Christian organization, we believe that God owns our bodies and that we are free people not beholden to doing every terrible thing that the government wants us to do,” one employee told The Epoch Times on condition of anonymity.
Focus on the Family pushed back and said the Epoch Times report was “inaccurate.”
“Focus believes each person should have the right to determine if they should be vaccinated. We are firmly opposed to a vaccine mandate, and any reports that suggest otherwise are misleading,” the ministry said in a statement.
But that’s not at all accurate, according to Focus on the Family’s own statement.
Media reports in the Epoch Times that Focus supports a vaccine mandate are inaccurate. Focus believes each person should have the right to determine if they should be vaccinated. We are firmly opposed to a vaccine mandate, and any reports that suggest otherwise are misleading. However, when it comes to current masking or testing requirements, for those unvaccinated, we strongly believe our donors’ financial support should be directly invested in ministry to families, not given to OSHA through exorbitant fines. These fines are threatened to be $130,000 per infraction by OSHA, and could therefore climb into the multiple millions of dollars for an organization of our size. Therefore, at this time, we are complying with the requirement for masking and, on February 9, testing, if the Supreme Court does not overturn the Biden mandate. But our strong position and our prayer is that it will overturn the Biden OSHA mandate. Focus is actively monitoring the Supreme Court’s deliberations in the hope that it will rule against the requirement in the coming days. We will continue to follow developments and assess our response as necessary. In the meantime, we want to reiterate, in no uncertain terms, that Focus on the Family opposes a vaccine mandate.Focus on the Family
Focus on the Family may be opposed to the mandates, but they admitted they would follow the law of the law of the land.
“In the meantime, we want to reiterate, in no uncertain terms, that Focus on the Family opposes a vaccine mandate,” Focus wrote.
If true, why are they prepared to bow on bended knee to the federal government?
Hundreds of angry donors and supporters condemned the ministry’s decision on social media platforms.
“So I won’t donate another dime to you or purchase another product until you have made your final decision. I wouldn’t want my money to go to an organization that forces their employees to comply with an experimental vaccine,” one donor wrote. “I’m sorry but you cannot have it both ways. Either you are agree & conform to these things or you disagree & refuse to participate in it. I’m sorry but you can’t stand in the middle for this one. Take a stand for your employees!”
“So sad to see you bow to the government and unlawful mandates that are not laws. Never thought Focus on the Family would impose such draconian measures on their staff just so they can keep getting money…… pathetic,” wrote another.
Understand this. Focus on the Family does indeed have a choice to make – like all of us. They can either comply with the government’s mandates or not.
Based on Mr. Daly’s statement, it sure looks like they plan on complying. And if that happens, Focus on the Family donors will have a choice to make, too.
