The city of Seattle’s Office of Civil Rights held a training session on Internalized Racial Superiority “specifically targeted for White employees.”
“We’ll examine our complicity in the system of white supremacy – how we internalize and reinforce it – and begin to cultivate practices that enable us to interrupt racism in ways that are accountable to Black, Indigenous and People of Color folks within our community,” read an email to White employees obtained by City Journal.
The trainers asked white employees to “let go” of “comfort,” “guaranteed physical safety,” “control over the land,” “social status,” and “relationships with some other white people.”
Christopher F. Rufo, an editor for City Journal, filed a public records request regarding the training session. On Monday, he published copies of the materials distributed to employees in the session on his Twitter account.
“Training on Internalized Racial Superiority for White People” is basically a fancy way of calling it government-sanctioned racism against white folks.
First, diversity trainers informed white participants that “objectivity,” “individualism,” “intellectualization,” and “comfort” are all vestiges of internalized racial oppression. pic.twitter.com/qrZwHZgx1H
