The Dugger Band, a patriotic country music group, was censored by television station WSMV in Nashville.
Jordan and Seth Dugger had written a song called “True Colors.” They had been invited to perform on the station’s “Today in Nashville” program.
But when station management read the lyrics – they told the boys from the mountains of East Tennessee that it was politically biased – because it promoted America.
“We wrote this song because we’re proud to be Americans and we’re tired of people putting the USA down,” the Dugger brothers said in a statement.
These are the lyrics that offended television station WSMV:
‘I ain’t leaving here
I’m an eighth generation God fearing blue collar with the flag waving
I don’t wait for the Fourth of July
It’s year-round lifelong American pride
Right here right now
I’m drawing the line
If this country ain’t something you can stand behind
Then that’s the difference between between me and you
Because my true colors are red, white, and blue.’
The NBC affiliate told the band they could play another song — provided it did not include a “political” message.
“We decided not to perform a different song on WSMV because our freedom of speech is worth more than their publicity,” the band said in its statement.
The dirty little secret in Nashville is that the city has been turned woke – mostly by powerful country music executives. Remember when the leftists waged a campaign to remove Gov. Mike Huckabee from the Country Music Association Foundation?
Watch my interview with the Dugger brothers below:
The Alphabet Activists in the industry said at the time that Huckabee’s values were no longer welcome in country music. The woke country music executives literally said that people who believe in God, guns and family are no longer welcome at the Grand Ole Opry.
So, I’m not at all surprised that WSMV TV in Nashville censored the Dugger Band’s song because of its patriotic message. I reckon WSMV and Gray Television showed their true colors.
