Chick-fil-A restaurants across the nation set aside a table in its dining rooms to honor and remember soldiers who are prisoners of war or missing in action on this Memorial Day.
“It is our honor to display the Missing Man Table each year on Memorial Day weekend,” wrote the operators of a Chick-fil-A in Springfield, Ill. “While there are many different versions, our display is set to POW MIA standards. We encourage you to stop by and observe our Missing Man Table, which will be on display through Memorial Day. We are beyond grateful to the service men & women who have served – especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”
The Chick-fil-A in Beaverton, Oregon will pause at noon today to raise the American flag as Taps is played and “give honor to those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.”
“Our most solemn holiday,” read a statement from the operators of a franchise in Lenoir, North Carolina, nothing they “humbly reserve this table to honor those who gave their lives in service to our great country.”
Some restaurants also offered steep discounts for veterans and active duty servicemembers.
“Today we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and never returned home,” wrote the operators of a restaurant in St. Joseph, Missouri.
So if you find yourself at a Chick-fil-A across America on this Memorial Day, take a moment and offer a prayer for the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we would have the freedom to enjoy a delicious chicken sandwich and waffle fries in this most exceptional nation.
