‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Face Media Backlash For Supporting Anti-Critical Race Theory School Board Candidate

Home improvement superstars Chip and Joanna Gaines are facing a woke media mob after they donated money to a school board candidate who is opposed to critical race theory.

Shannon Braun, who is running for the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Board, received a $1,000 donation from the Gaineses.

Ms. Braun is also the sister of Chip Gaines.

And for some reason, her famous sibling’s campaign support has triggered the drive-by media.

“I’m committed to working alongside our parents and teachers to ensure GCISD students get the education they deserve by returning the focus of our curriculum and teaching to academics, rather than filling curriculum with divisive Critical Race Theory training. #GetBackonTrack,” Braun wrote on her campaign’s Facebook page.

So what exactly is Critical Race Theory?

Defined by Britannica, CRT is “the view that legal institutions are inherently racist, and race itself, instead of being biological, is a social construct used by white people to further their interests at the expense of people of color.”

Many public school classrooms have been infected with CRT — promoting lessons that portray white people as villains and teaching white children that they have privilege.

“CRT is not curriculum, but a movement of the radical Left to use false charges of institutional racism to con Americans into thinking our history was, and remains, foundationally racist — a tactic within a strategy to move the country toward the tyrannical, self-serving Left,” said Ken Blackwell, senior fellow for Human Rights and Constitutional Governance at Family Research Council.

“It encourages people to despise traditional values that nurture safety, opportunity, and prosperity,” said Blackwell, who is African-American. “By turning our backs on historical truth, we allow leftists to work their destruction into our fabric deep enough to change the color of the thread — from red, white, and blue to dark, shadowy, and dismal. With its underlying assumption that all white people are racists, CRT is itself racist.”

And now critics are accusing the Gaines family of being racist. And the drive-by media is more than happy to lead the way from The Hill to Yahoo News.

NBC News report Wilson Wong wrote an incredibly one-sided smear piece suggesting in a very coy way that the Gaines family had done something wrong by endorsing a family member.

Dallas Morning News reporter Anna Caplan accused Braun of not disclosing “the celebrity connection on her Facebook campaign page,”

So what? Why does that matter? Could Reporter Caplan explain why Braun is required to disclose that her brother and sister-in-law are celebrities?

“Conservatives have seized on the theory in targeting Carroll ISD in Southlake and other districts that have proposed diversity and inclusion plans, and Texas lawmakers are considering a bill that would affect how teachers can discuss race and racism,” Caplan wrote in her hit piece.

What the shiplap, America?
