It turns out a McDonald’s worker did not write a profane message on a police officer’s coffee cup.

Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday announced at a press conference that the police officer has been fired.

In a joint press conference with McDonald’s Monday night, the Herington Police Chief said the coffee cup incident was a hoax.

Earlier in the day the McDonald’s operator said video surveillance footage showed there was no way any of their employees had written the message on the cup.

Chief Brian Hornaday told television station KNST it was “fabricated by a police officer no longer employed with the agency.”

“Now, this is absolutely a black eye on law enforcement,” Hornaday said.

And now the officer is on the unemployment line, as he should be. Shameful!
