Gov. Mike Huckabee slammed leftist ice cream makers Ben & Jerry’s during an interview on the Todd Starnes Radio Show.
The Vermont-based ice cream company announced they will no longer be selling their frozen treats in “Occupied Palestinian Territory.”
“We have a long-standing partnership with our licensee, who manufactures Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in Israel and distributes it in the region,” the company said in a Monday press release. “We have been working to change this, and so we have informed our licensee that we will not renew the license agreement when it expires at the end of next year.”
The announcement drew a sharp rebuke from former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the current Israeli prime minister saying Ben & Jerry’s “decided to brand itself as anti-Israel ice cream.”
“Now we Israelis know which ice cream NOT to buy,” Netanyahu tweeted on Monday, including emojis of the Israeli flag and a flexing bicep.
Huckabee, who hosts a number of tours to the Holy Land, said the founders of Ben & Jerry’s are “uninformed idiots when it comes to the Middle East.”
“The people of Israel will get along just fine,” Huckabee told Starnes. “I can attest to the fact that if they don’t have Ben & Jerry’s, somehow God’s people, God’s kingdom and God’s land will be able to make it.”

They have just announced that they’re no longer going to sell ice cream in Judea or Samaria, writing that it was inconsistent with their values to let Ben and Jerry’s ice cream be sold and occupied Palestinian territory. HUCKABEE: [01:45:11] You know what, Todd? The people of Israel will get along just fine. And they have some wonderful ice cream in Israel. I’ve been there over 100 times. I can attest to the fact that if they don’t have Ben and Jerry’s, somehow God’s people, God’s kingdom, God’s land will be able to make it. I promise you,
TODD: [01:45:30] The land of milk and honey, as they say, that makes delicious ice cream.
HUCKABEE: [01:45:33] It’s really ridiculous. Let me just mention this. I have been to industrial factories, for example, in Judea, where SodaStream had a plant. They employed 1,100 people, 600 of them were Palestinian and 500 of them were Israeli. They worked side by side, men, women, Muslim, Jew. They got along. They not only work together, but they socialize together. They had the best wages they’d ever had in their lives. But this stupid BDS movement, which is really one of the most insane things I’ve ever seen, that does more to harm Palestinian people than you can imagine. So much pressure. SodaStream ultimately shut down their plant, leaving these people impoverished where they were making four times the wage they ever had made and could make in the Palestinian Authority. So when people like Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib actually try to pretend that they care about the Palestinian people, just take it with a grain of salt and realize they’re full of bull butter.
TODD: [01:46:43] And by the way, I would recommend Mayfield, which is, you know, what we love here in this part of the country, or BlueBell, another delicious ice cream. There are plenty of others and I’m sure would be happy to sell their product in Israel.
HUCKABEE: [01:46:56] Absolutely, and I just don’t understand Ben and Jerry’s somehow think that they are the social conscience of America when in fact they’re uninformed idiots when it comes to the Middle East.
