Bette Midler – the star of stage and screen – is facing universal condemnation after she engaged in a xenophobic attack on First Lady Melania Trump.
Midler accused Mrs. Trump of being an illegal alien who has trouble speaking English.
“Oh God. She still can’t speak English,” the aging Hollywood actress wrote on Twitter. “Get that illegal alien off the stage.”
In reality the 50-year-old First Lady is a naturalized citizen and she speaks six languages – fluently.
The truth is that Mrs. Trump has been a punching bag for Hollywood and the Mainstream Media.
“There’s some real venom here,” conservative pundit Trish Regan wrote on her Twitter page.
Michelle Obama was revered as a saint – plastered on magazine and book covers. The talking heads on cable television worshipped every word she uttered.
But Mrs. Trump has been shunned. And they have criticized everything from her wardrobe to her Christmas decorations.
I initially thought their hatred stemmed from the fact she was married to Donald Trump.
But I suspect the real issue is the Democrats have a problem with a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman who want to make America great.
