Legos is releasing an LGBTQ-themed lego set called “Everyone is Awesome,” with models made to look like drag queens and people who identify as transgender, according to the designer.

The new set, which will be released on June 1 to celebrate Pride Month, will cost $34.99.

“I was one of the lucky ones who was able to come out and had people there to support me. But there are so many that face so much discrimination, hate or violence,” set designer and design vice president Matthew Ashton, said.

“We’ve made sure to include black and brown colors to represent the broad diversity of everyone within the LGBTQIA+ community. We’ve also added in the pale blue, white and pink to support and embrace the trans community as well. I purposely put the purple drag queen in as a clear nod to the fabulous side of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Ashton explained.

Ashton said the set was also a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community within the LEGO Group and amongst the brand’s adult fans, according to a press release.

“We want to include everybody. No matter how young or old or what gender you are, Legos is for everybody,” Ashton added.

The LEGO Group said it is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace by partnering with Workplace Pride, Stonewall and Open for Business to help shape strategies to support employees who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies across the company.
