Something got lost in translation when the librarians in Gallatin, Tennessee decked the library’s halls not with with gay apparel, but with a gay Christmas tree.
That’s right, Americans. O tannenbaum was decorated with all the colors of the rainbow.
It’s a tradition at the public library to decorate the stacks with nearly two dozen Christmas trees – each one sponsored by a different organization.
The rainbow-colored tree was set up by a group called “Nashville in Harmony’ It’s a musical arts group for people of all sexual orientations and identities.

The Sumner County Mayor John Isbell released a statement saying the gay tree has been uprooted.
“I understand that the tree holds value for some, but it has unfortunately become a focal point for political discourse that is not conducive to unity in our community. While I respect and value the diverse views of a few of our citizens, the decision to remove the tree is in the best interest of fostering a positive environment for all our citizens visiting the library.”
One critic blasted City Hall and said that Christmas is about inclusiveness and accepting and that the holiday is meant to celebrate love for everybody. Another writing on Facebook: “This is so ignorant. It’s literally a tree with rainbow ornaments. That’s all. It’s not sending out subliminal messages to straight people – magically turning them all gay.”
For the record – there’s already a holiday for the LGBT community. It’s called the entire month of June. So, if they want to decorate a tree, why not toss the tinsel during Pride month?
Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. And contrary to the Alphabet Activists – the Reason for the Season is not RuPaul.
