The new Superman movie is anti-Trump and woke and director James Gunn says if fans have a problem with his politics they can go screw themselves. He literally said that.
Gunn telling reporters that his much-anticipated reboot of the comic book superhero is going to be about politics and immigration.
“Yes, it’s about politics,” Gunn said in a Sunday profile with The Times of London. “But on another level, it’s about morality.
“I mean, ‘Superman’ is the story of America – an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country,” the director continued. “But for me, it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”
“It’s about human kindness, and obviously, there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness. But screw them,” he continued.
Actor David Corenswet, who portrays Superman, told CBS News that he had ditched the traditional “truth, justice and the American way” motto for something a bit more inclusive. This version of Superman will be about “truth, justice and all those good things.”
The movie became a hot debate topic on Fox News Channel the other day.
JESSICA TARLOV (CO-HOST): Is Superman super woke? James Gunn, the director of the latest reboot movie said, “Superman is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country. But for me it’s mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.” Greg, you think that’s what Superman is all about?
GREG GUTFELD (CO-HOST): Well, for one thing, it’s a terrible analogy. With Superman, they are sending your best, you know? That’s not escalator material.
KELLYANNE CONWAY (CO-HOST): He found himself unable to say Superman’s slogan — ” fighting for truth, justice and the American way.” He said, “truth, justice and all of those good things.” He refused to say “the American way” and he’s playing Superman.
We don’t go to the movie theater to be lectured to and to have somebody throw their ideology on to us. I wonder if it will be successful.
JESSE WATTERS (CO-HOST): You know what is says on his cape? MS-13.Actor Sean Gunn, who plays Maxwell Lord in the film, suggested that critics are anti-American.
IndieWire gave the film a C+ rating:
On the one hand, Superman is an undocumented immigrant who becomes a scapegoat for all America’s problems, and his nemesis — played by Nicholas Hoult, who transforms a dull villain role with a touch of the blinkered sociopathy he perfected on “The Great” — is a billionaire technocrat who doesn’t trust that anyone so powerful could ever be pure at heart, and publicly accuses Superman of “grooming us.”
Actor Sean Gunn, who plays a character in the film and also happens to be the director’s brother, told Variety that Superman is an immigrant and if you don’t support immigrants you aren’t an American.
“My reaction to [the backlash] is that it is exactly what the movie is about,” Gunn said. “We support our people, you know? We love our immigrants. Yes, Superman is an immigrant, and yes, the people that we support in this country are immigrants and if you don’t like that, you’re not American.”
Granted, but Superman is not a MS-13 gangbanger who’s mooching off the American taxpayers. He spoke English and had a job – two jobs.
But MAGA supporters are not opposed to immigration. We celebrate those who want to come to this nation legally. We just have a problem with the drug cartels, human traffickers and the terrorists who want to blow us to kingdom come.
It’s not the first time that woke leftists have tried to destroy our beloved all-American superhero.
The Superman reboot in 2006 came with a “modern update” to the Man of Steel’s official motto. Instead of fighting for truth, justice and the American way, Superman pledged to fight for truth, justice and “all that other stuff.” That rendition of the Superman was a box office flop.
And then there was the all-new Superman comic book which featured the Man of Steel as a gay dude in tights who protests against ICE agents and battles climate change.
If the kryptonite doesn’t kill Superman, woke Hollywood film directors will.
