The National Football League is going all-out to celebrate gay pride month. A video resurfaced on social media from 2021. The NFL declared that football is beautiful. Had they stopped there – the NFL would’ve saved itself a lot of heartache.
But the NFL went on to say in the video that football is also gay, lesbian, transgender and queer.
The video showed the words, “Football is gay,” “football is lesbian,” “football is beautiful,” “football is queer,” “football is exciting,” “football is transgender,” “football is bisexual,” “football is power,” “football is American,” “football is accepting,” and “football is everything,” among other messages in the clip.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant called out the NFL – said he has nothing against gays – but their message is far from right. Said the idea that football is queer and transgender is a wild statement.
“These are wild statements to make…excuse my silliness. I’m going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against gays but this is far from right,” he said.
Bryant makes a valid point when he pushes back on the notion that professional football players must become advocates for the LGBT movement.
“It’s gay players in the NFL, but forcing it in people’s faces, especially children, can send the wrong message,” Bryant wrote on X. “Football is a real community, like the gay community. “Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight people. They probably would have a problem.”
This year a number of teams changed their colors and logos to honor the pansexuals and gender variant crowd – the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. The Los Angeles Chargers event published a handbook on how to come out of the closet.
No doubt a lot of tight ends and wide receivers have questions about the NFL’s messaging on homosexuality and transgenderism. Watch the video below and click here to follow my YouTube Channel.
