It was all part of a carefully scripted and professionally filmed campaign moment. The leader of the free world sitting around the Fitts family dinner table – completely unaware of the optics of a white man serving black people fried chicken while he ate a hamburger.
The only thing missing was a side of collard greens and a fresh cut watermelon for dessert.
Even Corn Pop would’ve cringed.
Honestly it’s no different than Hillary Clinton’s revelation that she carries a bottle of hot sauce in her purse – or when she speaks in a fake Southern accent whenever she addresses the congregation of a black church.
The president’s finger-lickin’ video was posted just days after reports surfaced that his support among black voters is only 63 percent. In 2020 he carried 87 percent of the black vote.
It’s unlikely that voters are going to be swayed by the president’s pandering. The truth is that most Americans – black and white – can no longer afford a bucket of extra crispy – thanks to his economic policies.
