An Office Depot in Portage, Michigan refused to print posters that were meant to promote a prayer vigil for assassinated civil rights leader Charlie Kirk. An Office Depot manager said the flier was nothing more than propaganda. Watch video of the moment by clicking here and be sure to follow my YouTube Channel.
The prayer vigil was hosted by Republican Party of Kalamazoo County.
“It is absolutely shameful that @OfficeDepot in Portage refused to print this poster for the vigil tonight at Bronson Park in Kalamazoo,” Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-MI) wrote on X. “These individuals paid for the work to be done and the employees appear to have refused to do it because it was in memory of Charlie Kirk.”
Matthew DePerno, an attorney and Republican activist, filmed the encounter after they had prepaid for the fliers only to be told their order was rejected because it was “political propaganda.”
Mr. DePerno then did the right thing by posting the video on social media — leading to nationwide backlash for the office supply company.
State Sen. Aric Nesbitt (R-MI) wrote on X that the company’s actions were “despicable” and called on the three staffers involved to be fired.
Office Depot responded in a lengthy statement saying they were “deeply concerned” and that at least one of the staffers had been terminated.
“The behavior displayed by our associate is completely unacceptable and insensitive, violates our company policies, and does not reflect the values we uphold at Office Depot,” Office Depot wrote in a statement to The New York Post. “On behalf of the Company, we sincerely apologize for this regrettable situation.”
“We also launched an immediate internal review and, as a result, the associate involved is no longer with the organization,” the company wrote. “We continue to aggressively investigate the matter and will take action where appropriate.”
