Staffers at a Raising Cane’s restaurant in Fort Collins, Colorado cursed and mocked a group of customers who were wearing American flag shirts and MAGA hats. The diners had just attended a vigil honoring Charlie Kirk.
The Larimer County Republican Party shared a post written by someone who was inside Raising Cane’s when the incident allegedly happened.
“As soon as we walked in, several employees began yelling, cursing at us, and mocking us for what we were wearing – American flag shirts and MAGA hats,” the customer wrote on social media. “They shouted phrases like, ‘f*** Charlie Kirk,” “execute,” “Free Palestine” and made rude gestures.”
“The hostility was so intense that I felt unsafe even ordering food, worried about what might happen if we stayed,” the conservative wrote. “We decided to leave quietly without confrontation.”
That was probably a wise decision seeing how the staffers might have contaminated the food.
“This was not only shocking and humiliating, but it also raises a more profound concern: in our community, people should feel safe patronizing a business regardless of their political or religious beliefs,” the diner noted. “No one should fear harassment or discrimination when walking into a public restaurant.”
The incident left many of the conservatives who were in Raising Cane’s shaken.
“And it caused many in our circle to question whether our voices and value sare respected in the very community we call home,” the aggrieved customer wrote.
The Federalist reports that Raising Cane’s fired the employees who harassed the conservative customers.
“We thoroughly investigated the incident, took appropriate action, and resolved the matter to the satisfaction of the customers who made the complaints,” they wrote in a statement to the Federalist. “The individuals involved are no longer employed by Raising Cane’s.”
Conservatives are meant to be Happy Warriors because our foundational beliefs are rooted in Christianity. That does not mean that we must stay silent in the face of violence or hostility. You must speak out and you must stand your ground. It’s time for conservatives to start raising cain.
