Residents Threatened With Fines For Flying American Flag
The residents of a neighborhood in San Marcos, California have flown the Stars and Stripes for decades.
But the other day several of the residents received warning letters from the homeowner’s association – telling them to either remove Old Glory or face a $100 fine.
The letter, obtained by the California Post, said: “Once the members allow use of a common property by an owner to express what is essentially a political or affiliative view in a flag, other owners will want to do the same and the common area will degrade.”
The Ambiance Owner’s Association governs the neigborhood – where homes average about a million dollars. The HOA argued that the American flag represented a political view and would degrade the neighborhood.
Yet another reason why homeowners should do their homework and make sure they don’t buy a home in a neigbhorhood that is governed by Communists.
“I’m not going to stop,” resident Amy Cooke said. “It’s clear that I have the right to fly the American flag.”
“If anything, everyone should be able to feel like they can hang a flag,” Terri Collins told iNewsSource. “Two hundred and fifty years is amazing. That’s fabulous. We survived. We did it. We’re doing the American Dream. We’re going for it. We’re doing it, a plan that everyone thought would fail, and it’s still going. Everybody should be able to express that with the flag, and it’s too bad.”
California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton told The Post: “What is wrong with these people? We are just about to celebrate the 250th birthday of our country.
“One of the most beautiful and magnificent things about America is the way we show our love of our country together all the time,” he added. “The national anthem before sports events. The Pledge of Allegiance at public events. The Stars and Stripes everywhere. And now these tin-pot bureaucrats at some ridiculous HOA want to trample on our flag and stifle national pride at this of all moments? What a bunch of anti-American losers.”
“I hope everyone in that neighborhood not only ignores their HOA but doubles and trebles the number of American flags they display on this very special anniversary for our nation,” Hilton told The Post.
