The Spartans are under attack in North Carolina.
The South Caldwell High School Spartans, in Lenoir, drew the ire of atheists over its logo. The logo features a modified “T” that resembles a cross.
“Multiple district community members have reported that South Caldwell High School recently added a Latin cross to the spelling of its mascot name in the gym, with the capital “T” being modified to represent a Christian cross,” the Freedom From Religion Foundation alleged in a letter to the school district.
The FFRF is a Wisconsin-based atheist group that gets easily triggered by the name of Jesus Christ. Or in this case, the Alphabet.
“The district violates the U.S. Constitution when it allows its schools to display religious symbols or messages,” atheist attorney Chris Line wrote in a letter to the district.

The atheists want the logo scrubbed from the wall of the high school gymnasium and anywhere else it might appear in the district.
“This mascot redesign and highly prominent display violate not only the constitutional prohibition against preferring religion over nonreligion or Christianity over all other faiths,” the atheists wrote.
“It is the constitutional duty of every public school to remain secular in all forms,” chief atheist Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a statement. “South Caldwell High School must adhere to this principle and remove this overtly religious symbol as soon as possible.”
Let’s hope the grownups in charge of South Caldwell will invoke their inner Spartan and repel the invading horde of godless atheists.
