Americans have a beef with Senator Chuck Schumer over how he grilled a batch of Father’s Day hamburgers.
The Senate Majority Leader grilled on social media after he posted a photo that purportedly showed him armed with a spatula flipping hamburgers on his daughter’s new grill.
“Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!” Schumer posted on X on Sunday. “Father’s Day Heaven!”
But even vegetarians knew that it was all a staged photo. For one thing – only one burner was lit. And the hamburgers were raw.
Schumer literally put a slice of cheese on a raw hamburger. Who does that?
“Chuck is making an E. coli with cheese,” Cavalry founding partner Michael Duncan wrote on X.
In Schumer’s defense – he may not have actually been grilling ground beef. Some suggested the patties resembled something that might have been plant-based – and instead of cheese – it could have been a slab of tofu.
