Just like how Subway “refreshed” their menu, it looks like fans want them to “refresh” one of their representatives, soccer star Megan Rapinoe.
The activist athlete has made headlines many times before and has even drawn public criticism from former President Trump. He referred to her as “the woman with the purple hair.”
Rapinoe has been known to kneel during the anthem and to be a vocal advocate for Black Lives Matter. After watching the subpar performance of the women’s soccer team at the Tokyo Olympics, many are getting sick of Rapinoe’s performance on and off the field.
Subway is a massive company, but it doesn’t own its franchises. Rather, the Connecticut-based company charges its thousands of franchises for a national advertising fund. One Wisconsin customer recently told Subway to boot Rapinoe and is boycotting Subway until they do so.
There was a note taped to his door: “Boycott Subway until Subway fires the anti-American Megan Rapinoe, the creep who kneels for our beloved National Anthem!”
The owner lamented “it gets tiring apologizing” for Subway featuring Rapinoe.
An owner in Arizona wrote: “Spending our money to make a political statement is completely and totally out of bounds.”
Well, it looks like Subway might be getting a revamp in more ways than one.
