The Memphis Public Library is hosting a massive celebration commemorating Gay Pride month.
The taxpayer-funded library system is sponsoring rainbow family story time at branches across the city. It’s being promoted as an inclusive space for families.
Last year Memphis Public Library celebrated its growing emphasis on LGBTQIA inclusivity within their spaces – and a place for queer book nerds.
This year the library in Orange Mound – a neighborhood in Memphis – announced a partnership with a local gay rights group to hold free HIV testing and a community barbecue cookout.
The library also plans to offer free packages of Plan B as well as condoms – all being promoted as family fun activities.
There’s no reason why taxpayer-funded libraries should be using any money or resources to promote gay pride celebrations.
Maybe it’s time for someone in the Memphis area to create a local DOGE committee to determine how much of our tax money is being used to buy condoms instead of books.
As for the Rainbow Family Storytime cookout – I’d recommend taking a pass on the pulled pork.
