Students at the high school in Gorham, Maine were tasked with an unusual assignment the other day. They were directed by their social studies teacher to write a new Declaration of Independence.
I reckon the one written by our Founding Fathers was not sufficient in this brave new woke world.
“Now is your chance to officially declare yourself independent from something… anything! Think of something that is problematic for you in your life. Free yourself from whatever is causing you stress, making you unhappy, something with which you struggle or is difficult for you to deal with,” the assignment read.
The lesson was first exposed by educational freedom advocate Shawn McBreairty.
“This exercise teaches nothing but further narcissism,” he said. “Another ‘teacher’ who is nothing but a taxpayer paid activist for the far-left democrats. Pull your kids now.”
The students were told to declare themselves independent from a variety of maladies – like racism, sexism, homophobia and even their parents.
Another lesson directed students to their political identity and to confront their unconscious biases.
There’s certainly nothing unconscious about the teacher’s biases. On display now for all the nation to see.
Fox News reviewed a public record request that uncovered plenty of leftist bias in the teacher’s assignments.
The teacher told students they cannot be controlled. They should submit to no authority.
It sounds as if the teacher in Gorham, Maine had turned her classroom into a recruitment center for Antifa and Black Lives Matter.
