A man armed with a machete stormed into the home of a Rabbi in Rockland County, New York and stabbed as many as five people.
CBS News reports one of the victims may have been stabbed in the chest. There are reports that some of those stabbed are in critical condition.
In the past week, there have been at least nine attacks on Jewish citizens across the New York City area. Rockland County is home to a large Orthodox Jewish community.
Police are searching for the suspect, described in some reports as an African-American man.
“It’s something that’s very alarming. We treat them very seriously, and we make sure that our investigators do their best to do what we can to bring these individuals to justice that commit these crimes,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison told the CBS television station.

At 9:50 this eve, a call came in about a mass stabbing at 47 Forshay Road in Monsey (Rockland County; 30 miles North of NYC). It’s the house of a Hasidic Rabbi. 5 patients with stab wounds, all Hasidic, were transported to local hospitals.
