The other day the newspaper posted a glowing review of “Downstate” – a play about pedophiles.
Reviewer Peter Marks called the off-Broadway show a brilliant production.
It’s almost impossible to broad-brush the perspective at the heart of this impeccably acted drama without sounding as if one is advocating some extraordinary level of consideration for individuals who have committed unspeakable crimes. And yet Norris proposes a variation on this proposition at off-Broadway’s Playwrights Horizons: He is questioning what degree of compassion should society fairly hold out to those who have served their time for sexual abuse, assault or rape.

I reached out to Mr. Marks to ask why he’s promoting a play that normalizes pedophilia. In response, he blocked me on Twitter.
We are now in the middle of a global effort to normalize the most evil of crimes.
The fashion house Balenciaga created an ad campaign that portrayed children in various stages of bondage.
And a number of universities are trying to re-brand pedophiles as “minor attracted persons.”
The United States is a nation in a cultural free fall. We have been unmoored from the teachings of the Holy Bible. The morals and values that shaped our nation and our Constitution.
And that’s why society now embraces the perverse and profane.
It’s not so much that God has no place in the public square. He has no place in our hearts.
