CNN host Chris Cuomo told his viewers Wednesday the government had not taken the Wuhan lab theory seriously — despite his own reporting otherwise from last year.

Instead, the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo claimed the leak theory is a “newer notion” due to the Wall Street Journal’s report that several Wuhan lab workers were hospitalized in Nov. 2019 with COVID-like symptoms.

“The government had not been open to the lab theory,” Cuomo alleged. “That is why it’s so politically charged…Trumpers who were complicit in playing down the pandemic reality in America are now seeing more interest in the China lab theory as some kind of vindication, enough to play ‘I told you so’ with Fauci.”

New analyst for the Media Research Center, Nicholas Fondacaro, called out Cuomo on Twitter.

“Tonight Fredo claimed the idea that COVID came from the Wuhan lab was ‘a newer notion’ and that ‘The government had not been open to the lab theory.’ But on April 15, 2020, Cuomo announced ‘breaking news’ from his basement that the intel community thought it came from a lab,” Fondacaro wrote.

The “Cuomo Prime Time” host, last year, called it “breaking news” warning viewers it has “a very provocative headline.”

“The United States is pursuing the theory that the virus started in a Chinese lab, not a market,” he said at the time. “I know the internet is rife with conspiracy theories and concerns that this was something that was worked on… and part of the curiosity is we don’t know a lot because somebody changed a virus structure  enough to make it a mystery for us.”

Fondacaro said, “Here’s Fredo from his basement quarantine back in April 2020 talking about how COVID leaking from the Wuhan lab was ‘the story to watch’ and cited intel sources. He also wondered if ‘somebody changed a virus structure enough to make it a mystery for us.”

So what changed?

The host at CNN, as nationally syndicated radio host Todd Starnes calls “the most profane name in news,” showed his reporting varies greatly depending on who is president.
